EPOS GNSS Data Gateway concept and access

Work done by the GNSS Data & Products Thematic Core Services in the scope EPOS was promoted at the 19th General Assembly of WEGENER 2018 on earth deformation and the study of earthquakes using geodesy and geodynamics. There were two posters (the C4G/UBI contribution for the EPOS GNSS Products Dissemination and the EPOS GNSS Data Gateway: concept and access) and one presentation (Present-day crustal deformation in Romania from continuous and episodic GNSS measurements).

The EPOS GNSS Data Gateway: concept and access – The European EPOS GNSS data gateway is designed for accessing data and metadata of ~2000 GNSS stations collected and managed by different local data centers situated all over Europe. Written by the Géoazur/Université Côte d’Azur, CNRS, IRD and Observatoire de la Côte d’Azur team (Mathilde Vergnolle, Jean-Luc Menut, Khai-Minh Ngo, Maurin Vidal, and Lucie Rolland), the poster presents the system architecture based on the GLASS software package developed by five European institutions in the framework of the EPOS TCS GNSS Data and Products, how to use the EPOS GNSS Data Gateway and its status.   In particular, it focuses on how to search for data and metadata with the graphical user interface and how to download them.

New way of GNSS data dissemination within the European Plate Observing System (EPOS)

The poster “New way of GNSS data dissemination within the European Plate Observing System (EPOS)” was presented by Jan Douša, member of TCS GNSS Data and Products, at IGS Workshop 2018, which has been held in China for the first time.

Hosted and organized by Wuhan University receiving assistance from the State Key Laboratory of Satellite Navigation System and Equipment Technology and sponsorship from relevant partners, the event entitled “Multi-GNSS through global collaboration” occurred from October 29th to November 2nd.

Jan Douša took the opportunity to explain – at the poster presentation – what is EPOS for, besides approaching GNSS data dissemination, which includes talking about GLASS software package. “The European Plate Observing System (EPOS) has been established to facilitate, harmonize and standardize data collection and processing for Solid Earth Research applications”, said Douša.

EPOS TCS GNSS Thematic Core Service @ European Plate Observing System

On May 30th until June 1st, 2018, EPOS TCS GNSS Data and Products participated to the EUREF 2018 Symposium, which was hosted in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Therefore, to disseminate this Thematic Core Service, Rui Fernandes, coordinator for EPOS TCS GNSS Data and Products, had been chosen as a representative to speak about EPOS at EUREF Symposium. To leverage EPOS awareness, he started by reminding the audience that “EPOS is a long-term project for the integration of research infrastructures for Solid Science in Europe. Therefore, one of the three priority projects of European Commission within ESFRI”.
